Through the recent opening of its Advanced Man- ufacturing Center in Michigan, Ford Motor Co. is studying ways to better incorporate 3D printing into its operations. A longtime user of additive manufacturing (AM) for prototypes, the automak- er more recently has employed AM for metal and nonmetal tools, jigs and fixtures. Today, 3D print- ed parts are beginning to show up in Ford’s pro- duction vehicles.
