The Department of Energy’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is collaborating with Stratonics, Inc., to integrate a Stratonics ThermaViz sensor system into its direct-metal laser-sintering (DMLS) process. The sensor system will help researchers correlate actual melt-pool characterizations to simulation-model data. The goal is to eliminate build defects by optimizing operating parameters using in-situ process monitoring and closed-loop control. Learn more about the technology at www.stratonics.com/.
