Additive Manufacturing Vacuum Heat Treating Services
Minimal Distortion, Bright Results
ADVERTORIAL
 Additive manufacturing is
the newest manufacturing
technology that is taking the
world by storm. Since the ulti-
mate goal of additive manu-
facturing is to produce
near-net components,
thereby eliminating machining
waste, vacuum heat treating
is well situated to be a lasting
partner with printing technolo-
gies for many years. Only the
vacuum heat treating process
can produce the critical tem-
perature uniformity (± 2°F)
and the vital heating and
cooling rates by thermocou-
pling parts in direct contact
with the metal. Additionally,
the vacuum heat treating
process has the ability to at-
tain vacuum levels of 1 X 10-
6 torr, which is necessary to
produce the clean oxide-free
results. These critical thermal and atmos- pheric conditions only aid in producing strong, ductile and crack-free metallurgical results that are paramount with the new metallurgy of 3D metal printing.
Solar Atmospheres is one of the world’s largest providers of commercial vacuum heat treating services. Solar's thermal processing produces bright, scale-free parts with minimal distortion. Solar serves more than 18 industries in- cluding aerospace, defense, medical and power generation. Our state-of-the art services include vacuum heat treating, brazing, carburizing and nitriding. With more than 60 furnaces ranging from lab- sized to 48 ft. long with a 150,000 lb. workload capacity, Solar Atmospheres can efficiently handle any size job. Solar oper- ates plants in Eastern and Western Penn- sylvania, California, and South Carolina. Nadcap, ISO 9001:2015 /AS9100D, ITAR and MedAccred certified.
