      AM Technology Galore
Booth after booth showcased what’s new and exciting. Here’s a taste. BY LOUIS A. KREN, SENIOR EDITOR
Last November, more than 21,000 attendees and more than 550 exhibitors converged in Frankfurt, Germany, for form- next 2018. The world’s largest annual additive manufac- turing (AM) event provided the opportunity to witness the latest technology. And that’s just what 3D Metal Printing’s editors did. Here’s a look at some of what we saw—we have more online and in future issues of 3D Metal Printing.
Software Offers Integrated Simulation, Automated Support Generation
Magics 23 data and build-preparation software, new from Materialise, allows users to create self-supporting honeycomb structures, preview and analyze structures, and have full control over orientations on build platforms. And, the use of fillets,
which can be generated on a single edge, results in improved part quality. Overall software advantages reportedly include faster processing of large data sets, less time spent on data preparation
and reduced pow- der consumption.
As part of Magics 23, Data Matrix Label, an advanced labeling feature, converts alphanu- meric data from standard 3D print- ed labels into a data-matrix code
