NanoSteel Launches Formetrix
September 20, 2018NanoSteel, a Providence, RI-based provider of nanostructured steel materials announced the spinout of its additive manufacturing (AM) business unit into a new corporation named, Formetrix. Leveraging NanoSteel’s expertise in patented steel alloy design, Formetrix’s metal powder portfolio is intended to “accelerate the adoption of AM within the tool and die and aluminum die cast industries,” says David Paratore, president and CEO of NanoSteel. “Growth in these sectors has been limited in part to the lack of suitable materials and we believe we have developed excellent new options.”
To support production customer requests, Formetrix selected AddUp’s FormUp 350 3D printer. Using the printer and additional finishing equipment, Formetrix expect to continue expansion of its service-center capabilities, says Harald Lemke, chief commercial officer.
